‘Chair in Chun Yeung Street’ (CCYS) aims to create a better community in North Point and to evoke the consciousness of public space using.

The project is taken place at the entrance of the wet market and the tram station, which broken and used chairs and stone blocks are placed to provide a seating area for the neighbourhood. With my studies and public engagement research on the seating space in North Point, there is a lack of seating space for the community and a need of public space for connection and gathering of the community.

The concept of CCYS is to use mobile furniture to provide recreational space for the community to have a place to gather. The material used for the mobile furniture is upcycled from the pallet woods found in Chun Yeung Street.

A set of mobiles chairs and benches is made from the recycled materials. The users can form a circle to catch up with each other using the chairs. When they need to leave, they can store those chairs to a bench. With this set of chairs, I believe neighbours can rethink the possibility of public space.
